Urinary Tract Infection?
I have never had a UTI but i realised that i have one and
i havent gone to the doctors yet
and its been 8 days. and i thot i could get better by using home remedies such as drinking lots of water to flush out the bacteria.
I thot it was getting better
but now when i urinate the pain is getting worse

should i go to the doctors
do you think that i waited to long?

also im on birth control
and if i take the prescribed medication for the infection will that affect the effectiveness of my birthcontrol pills?

should i avoid having sex so i dont endanger my partner?

I urinary tract infection is an INFECTION. Yes you will have to get antibiotics and yes they will mess with your birth control. Use a back up. You need to go asap because what starts as a simple bladder infection can progress to a kidney infection which is a lot worse. You can buy a product called AZO that will help you with pain (note it will turn your pee a freakish yellow/orange color) but it won't make it go away.

Take cranberry pills daily and cut back on caffeine to help prevent them in the future. It;s also important to urinate after every intercourse session. Even if you don't have to go you need to try. The urine helps to flush out any bacteria that may have entered your urethra during sex.

Also: Having sex will not endanger your partner in any way but I've never wanted to have sex while I had a UTI; it would just be very uncomfortable.

Usually if you catch the symptoms early you can help by taking concentrated cranberry extract and drink lots of water. but since it has been 8 days you probably need antibiotic. and these always reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills.

8 days?!?! A UTI is an infection that MUST be treated with antibiotics. Left untreated, it will spread to the kidneys causing organ failure. GET TO THE ER RIGHT NOW. BIRTH CONTROL IS THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES!!!!!

Good grief! Go to the doctor, NOW. The infection may move from your urinary tract to your bladder. Then you’ll have a real problem. You probably need antibiotics.

If you’ve never had a UTI and haven’t gone to the doctor, how do you know that’s what it is? Go to the doctor anyway and yes, any antibiotics you take will affect your birth control, so make sure you tell your doctor you’re taking birth control as well. Also, don’t have sex until you know what it is.

Stop having sex with your partner because your just giving it back to each other. Drink some cranberry juice because it helps with getting rid of the infection. Go see a doctor as soon as you can before it works it way into the kidneys, that could be more painful than a urinary tract infection.

You should defiantly go see a doctor. He will have you do a urine sample to make sure it’s a UTI. He will then prescribe you an antibiotic which will decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pills. Make sure to use another preventative. I would avoid having sex all together to avoid further irritating the infection. Drink Cranberry juice and lots of water. Good Luck my friend.

If you have a UTI you need to go to the doctor ASAP. If you let it go long enough, it could spread to your kidneys and become severe. They usually do not resolve on their own, and you’ll probably need an antibiotic.
Some antibiotics may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills, but some are not associated with it. Usually the antibiotics prescribed for UTIs are not known to decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your concern, and find out if the antibiotic you are prescribed will affect it.
I would not be concerned about spreading the UTI, but having sex with a UTI may make your symptoms worse.

How can you know that this is not a kidney stone working its way out? You are only assuming it is an infection, and it may be, but there is not a clear demonstration of the typical fever of an infection in your description.
You should of course see a doctor, but please describe your symptoms to her rather than telling her that it is a UTI.

GO TO THE DOCTOR TOMORROW! You probably now have a kidney infection. You can’t just flush out a uti. Nothing like that works. Only ANTIBIOTICS DO! Yes it might affect the bc pills too.
