About urinary tract infection – Prevention and Treatment

urinary tract infection, urinary tract infection or, is colonization of microorganisms in the urinary tract in an amount such and such a way that causes or symptoms occur. When just the urethra and bladder is affected, it is called urinary tract infection. When the ureters and kidneys are affected, the name used is “upper urinary tract infection.”

CAUSES /> <br uti
UI is commonly caused by bacteria that are present in the normal flora in and around body openings and in the digestive tract such as the bacterium Escherichia coli. Most often the bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra opening. Women more easily get urinary tract infection because they have a shorter urethra so that bacteria have a shorter way to reach the bladder. />
<br diseases chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis normally not called uti, even though these infections often affect urinary tract.

defects in the urinary system can make a person susceptible for UTI, such as strictures or valve-like structures in the urethra and defects that reflux from the bladder through the urethra. physical damage to the urinary tract can also make it easier for bacteria to colonize and make infections.

The use of catheters or other instruments in the urinary tract can introduce bacteria and cause damage to the bacteria that give an easy opportunity to infect.
/> THE SYMPTOMS OF UTI

UTI can occur acutely with very distinct symptoms. UTI can also develop slowly and chronically with small symptoms for a long time.

The symptoms by lower UTI are:

– Itching during urination.
– Pain in the region of the bladder.
– Urgency of urination, although there is little urine in the bladder.
– Need to urinate at night.
– Fever, usually mild.
– Dark urine with bad smell.
– Pus from urethra or blended with the urine.
– Sometimes blood in the urine.

In the upper urinary tract infection the same symptoms often occur, and in addition these symptoms will be felt:

– Nausea and vomiting.
– Pain in the sides of the back and sides of the stomach, at the height of the kidneys, and often downwards towards the bladder region.
– Tightness in the stomach area.
– High fever with chills and shivering.
– Fort fatigue.

The symptoms of urinary tract infection should always be investigated, especially blood in the urine, since the cause may be a more serious illness.

Complications caused by urinary tract infection

upper UTI, the infection can spread deep into the kidney tissues and destroy the structures that excrete urine. This gradual process can lead to kidney failure. The infection can cause growth of scar tissue in the urinary tract, such as the urethra, which causes obstruction and problems with urination.

In men the infection can spread to the prostate and destroy the reproductive organs and reproductive system function.

When a pregnant woman suffers from UTI, children tend to be born with very low birth weight.

UTI is diagnosed by a urine sample. The sample is analyzed for substances produces by the disease process, like nitrites, leukocytes or leukocyte esterase. Also performs urine culture to confirm the presence of the bacteria.

When children have been diagnosed with UTI, in is useful to perform urine flow studies and radiologic studies of the urinary tract afterwards to see if there is reflux of urine to the bladder or other abnormalities urinary tract. This is sometimes done also by adults if UTI often recur.

The standard treatment for urinary tract infection

Urinary tract infection is commonly treated with antibiotics such as trimethoprim, cephalosporins, nitrofurantoin or a fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin) .

Children who have been diagnosed with a urinary tract defect are often the subject of a long-term treatment with low doses of antibiotics, but recent studies have cast doubt on the validity of this scheme.

Although the standard treatment is generally effective, does not always manage to beat down one of these infections. Treatment with low doses of antibiotics to prevent new outbreaks of UTI can give side effects and is not always effective.

Alternative measures for treatment can be useful, in addition to standard medications, and these alternatives may be useful to prevent new outbreaks of UTI.

Cranberry and blueberry can help against UTI by eliminating the bacteria causing urinary tract infection. These herbs can be taken as juice or tea, dried berries, and are also concentrates and capsules.

The type of sugar D-mannose also seems to help eliminating infectious bacteria from the urinary tract.

blueberry, cranberry and D-mannose appear to help by sticking to the bacteria or the lining of the urinary tract and make it difficult for bacteria to adhere to the inside walls and infect the tissues. In contrast, the bacteria are flushed out through urine.

Goldenseal root and Uva ursi also have effects against bacteria infecting the urinary tract.

Remedies that alter the PH of the urine more acidic or more alkaline also seem to counteract infectious bacteria. It appears that the bacteria thrive only in a very narrow pH range. mineral supplements that contain citrate alkaline pH change in one direction, and may be used for this purpose. Bilberry seems to give a more acidic urine and helps also this way.

Some studies indicate that acupuncture can help prevent further outbreaks of urinary tract infection.

LIFESTYLE MEASURES TO PREVENT UTI

Many lifestyle measures can be used to prevent the outbreak of UTI and help cure a urinary tract infection .

– Wear clothing that makes the lower body to get cold is useful for the experience of many peoples.

– both drinking water causes the infectious bacteria that washes easier.

– To urinate after intercourse and cleaning the urethral opening eliminates infectious bacteria transmitted by the sexual act before they can invade the urinary tract.

– The use of condoms by anal intercourse can hinder infectious bacteria in the rectum to enter a man’s urethra.

– After anal intercourse, vaginal intercourse should be avoided without a good wash first.

– Having a good intimate hygiene, and cleaning the front and back of the toilet can hinder bacteria from entering the urinary tract.

– Hot baths sitting no soap that can irritate can ease the pain during, UTI and may enhance the healing process.

This video informs anyone in the medical field about a new device that will take over the position of a bed pan in a hospital setting or in a home. Urassist is a non invasive urine collection system unlike the invasive catheter that causes UTI (urinary tract infections). UrAssist is a brand new device that recently hit the market. So if you are a nurse this is especially made for your establishment.
