It takes a while take some AZO from the pharmacy while you wait that should help with all the sypmtoms. UTI"s are horrible =[ goodluck!

It takes 24 hours for an antibiotic to totally be circulating through your blood stream and the symptoms should subside within a few days, or sooner.

It should be much better within 24 hours, if it isn’t you need a recheck. UTI’s respond very quickly to antibiotics.

No you can not catch someone else's UTI through intercourse. It is not like an std. Do not bother with over the counter medications, they do nothing. Seek advice from your doctor if you think you have one.

No. However, sex can cause a UTI whether the guy has one or not. Sex pushes bacteria into both people's urethras. Men clean them out when they orgasm because they ejaculate. Women should pee after sex to clean themselves out.

UTI’s aren’t infectious diseases. Urinary tract infections are within the bladder.

If you use condoms you do not have to wait at all. The risk lies in passing the infection to your husband who will later reinfect you. Although this is rare (not impossible) with the yeast infection it is quite common with the UTI.
It is actually quite important that he be checked for the infection and treated if necessary before resuming unprotected sex with him. Most of what the other people answering your question is correct in that you need to make sure that the infection is gone before resuming unprotected sex.
Candida albicans, the same type of yeast that causes vaginal yeast infections can cause a condition called jock itch in males and sometimes females. In this way it can be passed back and forth between partners. Jock itch is external and can be eliminated with Selsun, Monistat or Clotrimazole. Candida albicans can also invade the male urinary tract and cause a condition called male yeast infection which causes itching at the tip of the penis.
