About urinary tract infection – Prevention and Treatment

urinary tract infection, urinary tract infection or, is colonization of microorganisms in the urinary tract in an amount such and such a way that causes or symptoms occur. When just the urethra and bladder is affected, it is called urinary tract infection. When the ureters and kidneys are affected, the name used is “upper urinary tract infection.”

CAUSES /> <br uti
UI is commonly caused by bacteria that are present in the normal flora in and around body openings and in the digestive tract such as the bacterium Escherichia coli. Most often the bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra opening. Women more easily get urinary tract infection because they have a shorter urethra so that bacteria have a shorter way to reach the bladder. />
<br diseases chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis normally not called uti, even though these infections often affect urinary tract.

defects in the urinary system can make a person susceptible for UTI, such as strictures or valve-like structures in the urethra and defects that reflux from the bladder through the urethra. physical damage to the urinary tract can also make it easier for bacteria to colonize and make infections.

The use of catheters or other instruments in the urinary tract can introduce bacteria and cause damage to the bacteria that give an easy opportunity to infect.
/> THE SYMPTOMS OF UTI

UTI can occur acutely with very distinct symptoms. UTI can also develop slowly and chronically with small symptoms for a long time.

The symptoms by lower UTI are:

– Itching during urination.
– Pain in the region of the bladder.
– Urgency of urination, although there is little urine in the bladder.
– Need to urinate at night.
– Fever, usually mild.
– Dark urine with bad smell.
– Pus from urethra or blended with the urine.
– Sometimes blood in the urine.

In the upper urinary tract infection the same symptoms often occur, and in addition these symptoms will be felt:

– Nausea and vomiting.
– Pain in the sides of the back and sides of the stomach, at the height of the kidneys, and often downwards towards the bladder region.
– Tightness in the stomach area.
– High fever with chills and shivering.
– Fort fatigue.

The symptoms of urinary tract infection should always be investigated, especially blood in the urine, since the cause may be a more serious illness.

Complications caused by urinary tract infection

upper UTI, the infection can spread deep into the kidney tissues and destroy the structures that excrete urine. This gradual process can lead to kidney failure. The infection can cause growth of scar tissue in the urinary tract, such as the urethra, which causes obstruction and problems with urination.

In men the infection can spread to the prostate and destroy the reproductive organs and reproductive system function.

When a pregnant woman suffers from UTI, children tend to be born with very low birth weight.

UTI is diagnosed by a urine sample. The sample is analyzed for substances produces by the disease process, like nitrites, leukocytes or leukocyte esterase. Also performs urine culture to confirm the presence of the bacteria.

When children have been diagnosed with UTI, in is useful to perform urine flow studies and radiologic studies of the urinary tract afterwards to see if there is reflux of urine to the bladder or other abnormalities urinary tract. This is sometimes done also by adults if UTI often recur.

The standard treatment for urinary tract infection

Urinary tract infection is commonly treated with antibiotics such as trimethoprim, cephalosporins, nitrofurantoin or a fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin) .

Children who have been diagnosed with a urinary tract defect are often the subject of a long-term treatment with low doses of antibiotics, but recent studies have cast doubt on the validity of this scheme.

Although the standard treatment is generally effective, does not always manage to beat down one of these infections. Treatment with low doses of antibiotics to prevent new outbreaks of UTI can give side effects and is not always effective.

Alternative measures for treatment can be useful, in addition to standard medications, and these alternatives may be useful to prevent new outbreaks of UTI.

Cranberry and blueberry can help against UTI by eliminating the bacteria causing urinary tract infection. These herbs can be taken as juice or tea, dried berries, and are also concentrates and capsules.

The type of sugar D-mannose also seems to help eliminating infectious bacteria from the urinary tract.

blueberry, cranberry and D-mannose appear to help by sticking to the bacteria or the lining of the urinary tract and make it difficult for bacteria to adhere to the inside walls and infect the tissues. In contrast, the bacteria are flushed out through urine.

Goldenseal root and Uva ursi also have effects against bacteria infecting the urinary tract.

Remedies that alter the PH of the urine more acidic or more alkaline also seem to counteract infectious bacteria. It appears that the bacteria thrive only in a very narrow pH range. mineral supplements that contain citrate alkaline pH change in one direction, and may be used for this purpose. Bilberry seems to give a more acidic urine and helps also this way.

Some studies indicate that acupuncture can help prevent further outbreaks of urinary tract infection.

LIFESTYLE MEASURES TO PREVENT UTI

Many lifestyle measures can be used to prevent the outbreak of UTI and help cure a urinary tract infection .

– Wear clothing that makes the lower body to get cold is useful for the experience of many peoples.

– both drinking water causes the infectious bacteria that washes easier.

– To urinate after intercourse and cleaning the urethral opening eliminates infectious bacteria transmitted by the sexual act before they can invade the urinary tract.

– The use of condoms by anal intercourse can hinder infectious bacteria in the rectum to enter a man’s urethra.

– After anal intercourse, vaginal intercourse should be avoided without a good wash first.

– Having a good intimate hygiene, and cleaning the front and back of the toilet can hinder bacteria from entering the urinary tract.

– Hot baths sitting no soap that can irritate can ease the pain during, UTI and may enhance the healing process.

Do you fear that you might have to live with urinary tract infections for the rest of your life?

You do not have to anymore. I am going to show you exactly how I was able to cure my recurrent UTIs with natural urinary tract infection cures. And how you can too!

About a year ago I was doing exactly what you are doing right now. I was searching for urinary tract infection cures on the Internet…

What I found was an amazing e-book that taught me how to use natural remedies as a UTI cure. The e-book that I found did not only help me cure my recurrent UTIs, it also taught me effective techniques for preventing future recurrences. Here is some of what I have learned from the e-book.

4 natural urinary tract infection cures for preventing UTIs

Drink plenty of water each day. You should aim for a glass of water every hour. By keeping your hydration levels high during the day, your bladder will continually be flushed. This helps keep the bad stuff out of your body and decreases the risk of contracting an infection.

Eat parsley. Fresh parsley contains apiol which is a violate oil that acts as a urinary tract antiseptic. Parsley helps flush the bad bacteria from your bladder and tract.

Drink nettle tea leaf. Drink 1 cup of nettle tea leaf up to 6 times per day. Nettle tea leaf increases the flow of urine which helps flush bad bacteria from your tract.

Eat foods that flush the bad bacteria from the tract. These foods help flush the bad bacteria from your body; potatoes, yams, zucchini, kale, spinach, onions, carrots, squash, broccoli, mustard greens, beet greens, eggplant, mineral water, green beans, grapes, avocado, pears, and apples.

Learn more about the e-book that helped me cure my recurrent UTIs by visiting my website: UTI Cure.

Jennifer E. Rogers suffered from recurrent UTIs for fifteen years until she found an e-book on natural urinary tract infection cures that helped her cure her recurrent infections once and for all. To see her cure, click here: UTI Cure.

Can a guy transfer a Urinary Tract Infection to a woman when having sex?

No. However, sex can cause a UTIs whether the guy has one or not. Sex pushes bacteria into both people’s urethras. Men clean them out when they orgasm because they ejaculate. Women should pee after sex to clean themselves out.

Reacting to a dog’s urinary tract infection (UTI) depends on the severity of the infection and the cause. The infection can lead to inflammation of the urethra, prostate, bladder, ureters and kidneys. In severe cases the problem can cause kidney failure. In most cases the problem is caused by bacteria or fungus passing from your dog’s gastrointestinal tract into the urethra (tube that carries urine from the body) and bladder.

Dog’s with strong immune systems and properly working urinary systems usually do not contract the problem. Is is important that a healthy dog is drinking enough so she is urinating frequently and with a strong flow. When these two systems are out of balance then your dog’s urinary tract infection can take hold. The urine itself is natures way of fighting your dog’s UTI. When the urine PH becomes too high or low, or has too much urea or acid, then it becomes less effective.

Symptoms of your Dog’s Urinary Tract Infection

Symptoms of canine UTI may not be noticeable for an extended period of time. Common dog urinary tract symptoms include urine that doesn’t smell right, difficulty with urination and lethargy or tired behavior.

As the condition worsens it can aid the formation of stones which lead to kidney failure. Since you don’t know if your dog’s UTI will go away immediately or progress, you should immediately seek veterinary care if you suspect this canine health problem.

Diagnosis of Your Dog’s Urinary Tract Infection

Your veterinarian could diagnose UTI with just a physical and by taking your dog’s history. If needed she will conduct tests such as urinalysis which will test the level of bacter ia and possibly stone remnants in the urine. She will also look for signs of neoplasia, which is a cancerous growth of cells in the urinary tract or bladder. Neoplasia is rare in dogs. It is difficult to determine if your dog’s UTI is confined to the urinary tract or has moved to the kidneys and prostate.

Treatment of Your Dog’s Urinary Tract Infection

Urine testing will indicate what type of bacteria or fungus is infecting your dog and will point to the specific antibiotic that is needed. Common antibiotics that are prescribed include amoxicilin and fluroquinolones. Treatment will last for 14 days. If the infection spread to the prostate or kidneys then treatment will last 30 days. After treatment ends your dog will be retested to see if the infection is gone.

If your dog has canine diabetes mellitus then additional treatment may be needed with the drug Amphotericin B. If medication alone doesn’t cure the problem then your veterinarian will look for other causes such as a physical problem with the urinary system with focus on the prostate gland.

Prevention of Your Dog’s Urinary Tract Infection

If your dog’s UTI frequently returns then you need to consider other approaches. You can try a combination of medications for a 6 month period period and possibly natural medicine associated with the establishment of a normal PH in the urinary system. Natural remedies such as Arctostaphylos uva ursi, Berberis vulgaris, Cantharis (6C) and Staphysagris are all associated with urinary support and should be discussed with your veterinarian. There are also prescription diets specifically made to help with your dog’s urinary tract infection.

According to our plan I wanted to be conceived after 6 months of my marriage. Everything was going well but last month I diagnosed as having Urinary Tract Infection and due to that I suffered from fever ten days. This infection again revived now.
Please tell me is it the right time to plan for a baby.
I am 30 years old please recommend other precaution that should be taken for planning for the baby.

When planning for a baby I don’t think it would matter if you had a bladder infection. I am speaking as a mom of four but a sister of someone who took a lot of planning and trying along with three losses along the way to having a baby . If you want my advise take your time and do less planning . Just enjoy practiceing making a baby and it should all come about naturaly. Sometimes in life we don’t get to plan everything .If the time is right with your body it will happen and if its not it won’t. Good luck in your journey

[[in a female]]

well, i didn’t really know that i had a UTI until saturday.
i have been feeling pains, nausea, my pee is really dark and i have to go the restroom a lot as well. i have been feeling all this for about 2 weeks now. when do you think it will reach my kidneys?

A UTI DOES involve the kidneys, ureters and bladder. The kidneys is what makes urine, which is then stored in the bladder. If you’ve had it for 2 weeks, why haven’t you gone to the Dr? An antibiotic is what you need. Get to the Physician.

I have my annual checkup with the gynecologist in 3 days, but recently talking to a friend, it appears I have several syptoms of having a urinary tract infection. Should I just wait and tell the doctor in 3 days, or call someone sooner?

The best thing to do would be to call your primary care Dr or your gyn and see if they can get you in before then. The longer it goes untreated the more uncomfortable you will be and it may worsen. If they cant squeeze you in you could try a med center or urgent care facility. If you cant be seen by anyone there are a few things that will help ease some of your symptoms. Drink lots of water and try some cranberry juice. There is a medicine called AZO Cranberry that you can get from the pharmacy.

Here is the product website if you want more info on it.

I got a urinary tract infection for the first time in my life. The same day I found out I asked my husband had he been cheating on me and he told me yes. He also told me the girl he had been with only had oral sex with him and they never had vaginal intercourse. Is it possible for me get this infection if she had oral sex with him and right after he came home and had sex with me?

Probably not, UTIs are due to opportunistic infection by bacteria that are usually present normally. She probably didn't give your husband any bacteria that he didn't have already. I doubt that your infection is due to any bacteria that he transmitted to you, either, because usually it's caused by bacteria already present on your skin.

Sex can trigger UTIs from friction introducing skin bacteria into the urethra, but after that it takes them a while to multiply, so the initial invasion of bacteria probably took place a day or so before.
