I have read that there are foods you can consume to raise your acid level in your urine that would eliminate the infection, does anyone know what they are?

Cranberry juice has a very special property that stops infection from sticking to the walls of your urinary tract but drinking lots and lots of it can have bad effects as well as it is too acidic. Some people on certain medication have to be careful with cranberry juice as well. My granddad was told by a physician that he could not drink it as he was on warfarin. If you’ve been diagnosed with a UTI then your doc should prescribe you antibiotics. Drinking a barley water drink such as robinsons fruit and barley can also help with the sting when passing water, and making sure you drink plenty of water will help flush it out.

Pure cranberry juice and lots of it, there are also cranberry extract capsules if you do not like juice.

For example, I've been taking Airborne tablets, effervescent tablets, and Emergen-C powder packets with water.

No it does not cure UTI and neither does cranberry juice. You need antibiotic medication to cure UTI.

Cranberry juice is recommended to reduce the likeliness of UTI not preventive or cure.

See a doctor ASAP. You may have some other issues going on such as pregnancy.

I get them all the time from meds I take like diabeties, blood pressure dont drink enough water too much sex (who to say how much is to much) its just a woman thing my doc say the only way to cure is anti. when you get home from doc take about 4 during the rest of the day and drink almost a gal water or as much as you can force down it will clear all the poison out but then take normal if it hurts to pea you can some red pils on shelf for a seditive to your pp short time that dont cure that just eash the pain

I put off going to the doctor yesterday because I wasn't sure that's what it was and it wasn't so bad. Today, it got worse and I bought a UTI tester. Well, it was positive. If you can offer any help, I would greatly appreciate it.

You need antibiotics to cure the infection and a trip to the doc. Drink lots of fluids, lay off of the sodas and do drink cranberry juice. Take over the counter AZO, it will ease the pain, but will not get rid of the infection. Please take care of it before it goes to your kidneys. Also, a tip for sexually active women, please urinate asap after sex. It prevents cystitis (which is a bladder infection) and clears the urethera of bacteria. Hope you feel better. God Bless.

I just heard this and it sound too good to be true. But I was told that if you start taking Alka-Seltzer as soon as symptoms begin it clears it up quickly. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, you could use alka seltzer. The reason is because it is alkaline in nature, just like baking soda, or calcium citrate.
Alkalinity helps keep the bacteria that causes UTI's in check.
Calicum citrate would be my first choice, and take up to six 1000 mg capsules a day, 2 at a time.

If you take a product that is alkaline when you FIRST barely, even start to feel the effects of a UTI, drink plenty of fluids to flush the bacteria, you may be able to effectively flush your system out.

You can drink cranberry juice if you want, it is also helpful, but make sure it is low sugar.

Avoid caffine and carbonated beverages (I am not considering alka seltzer a carbonated beverage). You can even take a product like uristat or cystex to help with pain.

HOWEVER, if your symptoms continue after 2-3 days of self treatment, you must see a doctor. Unchecked UTI's can go on to cause major kidney infections that could require hospitalization.

The suggestions to drink cranberry juice and water are good – find unsweetened cranberry juice though because too much sugar will defeat the purpose.

like stool getting in there… like if you whipe from back to front or something… or just any bacteria finding its way in there… it doesnt make you a dirty person or anything its just you are probably more sensitive and more likely to get it then other people so you need to be sure to clean down there the best you can… and goto the doctor and get antibotics and pain killers… i just got over a UTI.
