Dissolve two Alke-seltzer tablets in water and drink it. Make a tea from fresh parsley and drink a cup each day. If you have grapefruit seed extract, put 10 – 15 drops of it in orange or water. If you have airbourne, dissolve two tablets in water and drink. Eat a fistful of dried cranberries every day. Get over the counter pills called Cystex. They work better than antibiotics for me when I have UTI. Drink a lot of Cranberry juice. Most effective if you make it yourself from fresh cranberries squeezed in warm water adding some honey. This should purify your urinary tract. Drink it every hour.
Make sure you were taking antibiotic against ECOLI in particular, not just general antibiotic. Ask your doctor about it.

OTC d-mannose concentrate tablets. Wipe front to back. Make sure to urinate before and after intercourse EVERY TIME to flush any bacteria. Do not go from anal intercourse to vaginal without first washing both yourself and your partner w/bacterial soap and warm water. You may need a maintenance dose of antibiotics, meaning a low daily dose of antibiotics. If you have a new partner and are having intercourse frequently, this is usually called Honeymooner's Syndrome. If you follow the info above this will help.

On top of all the good suggestions, what your doctor probably did not do is checking to which antibiotics your bacteria is resistant, this is a simple urine test done together with the regular one. Ask your doctor to give you another test to find the right antibiotics. You need to get rid of the bacteria before you take any preventive measures (like d-mannose juice or one antibiotic pill before or after intercourse), no use playing around with such an infection that might "wander" into your kidneys.
