Can a UTI cause pretty severe cramping and lower back pain?

I have had a urinary tract infection for nearly a week (have not had time to go to the doctor yet, as I’m in college and it’s finals week) and yesterday I began getting very bad stomach cramps and lower back pain. My period isn’t due, so I know it’s not that. Does anyone know if the UTIs could cause those symptoms?

Thanks.

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here
It is called CT - DM

Yes. If you have had it for a week, it is possible for the infection to spread from your bladder to your kidneys. This could cause cramping and back pain. You need to get to a doctor asap! I know you are busy, but you never want to let an UTI go untreated. I wouldn’t wait until Monday for an appointment. I would go to an urgent care tomorrow if you can!
