If you suspect your kitty has a UTI , is there anything you can do at home or get over the counter, or does the vet have to see them and give you something?
You should bring your cat to the vet so he can perscribe him or her some antibiotics.

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here
It is called CT - DM
I had a cat that was very prone to UTI’s …..I don’t know of anything you can give them or do for them ….But I do know that if you let it go too far, the urinary tract will become blocked, then it gets VERY expensive to cure. My kitty had to be catheterized for a few days …and on antibiotics …plus from then on I had to give him special food ..
So, my advice is the sooner the better as far as getting him to the vet!

First you actually have to have it properly diagnosed, by having the vet do a cytocentisis (drawing urine from the bladder with a needle) and doing a culture on it to confirm that there is bacteria present. Then the vet does a sensitivity test to determine the proper antibiotic for it. Then you put the cat on the antibiotic for 7-10 days and also give pain meds if required.
UTIs are often diagnosed when it is actually cystis, which should not be treated with antibiotics rather just pain meds.
Giving your cat canned food instead of dry food also helps keep them better hydrated which helps too.
edited to add: Do not give d-mannose capsules! This works well with humans but I’ve read there are potential issues with cranberries for cats

Go to the vet. It might look like a UTI, but it could be something more serious. Problems in your pets are usually easier and cheaper to treat if you catch them sooner.
Good luck, and pat kitty for me.

Go to a vet if you can.
If not, you can give him Cleartract Capsules. I believe it is a 250 mg dosage. Mix one capsule in his wet food twice a day for about 5 days. Then you can give him one a day for the rest of his life if you wish just as a preventative measure. You can get these lots of places…Walmart, K-mart, drug stores, etc. It thankfully worked for our cat at a time when I couldn’t afford to go to the vet. Good luck to you and your kitty!
