do you get them often? i used to, before i went to an allergist for someting unrelated and found out i am allergic to dairy...it caused excess discharge when i consumed it and i had uti s off and on for 15 years. none since i went dairy free (3 ys)

Be careful!!! The over the counter pain relief pills that turn your pee orange will kill your kidneys if you use too much. Also, cranberry can make some forms of UTI's worse so don't always go that route. If you don't get on antibiotics you will end up with a raging fever and it might move up to your kidneys. Trust me, being that sick ain't worth it! It may seem like it goes away but in reality it will come back as a kidney infection and will be 10 times worse.

You can take home remedies unless it gets worse, but if it’s not getting better you might want to go anyway. Add hot baths to what you’re doing they will help with the pain, by easing the inflammation in your bladder. Bad signs- peeing blood, pain in the lower back, and a fever. Good luck!

You should go to your doctor today to have a urine culture and get the appropriate antibiotics for your infection. Untreated UTI's can lead to kidney infections, which are no fun at all. As far as the home remedies you describe, cranberry and echinacea never did anything for me at all as a former regular sufferer of UTI's. Drinking a lot of water is always a good idea, and can help to prevent you from getting UTI's, but as far as I know it doesn't do much good to cure an existing infection.

48 hrs is plenty long enough.
Take a urine sample(first one of the morning) to the surgery and ask to get it tested.
That is the only way you will know for sure and hopefully get the appropriate treatment.

If you haven't had it properly diagnosed, you might want to do that. A untreated UTI can lead to many more infections and female issues...
