drinking a lot of water and either drinking d-mannose or taking d-mannose pills will help with the pain and help prevent urinary tract infections, but the only way to get rid of them once you have them is by taking antibiotics which you'll have to get from a doctor.

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here

lots and lots of cranberry juice (straight 100% juice). Garlic also helps. But LOTS of water and cranberry juice… the water will help flush the infeciton out of your system while the cranberry does WHATEVEr it does… go google it.

I'm not a doctor but I've heard cranberry juice is great for preventing them. Have to ask a doctor for a cure though, sorry. : )

Well, the BEST would be getting antibiotics from a doctor, but for those who can't afford that or would rather not see doctors, drinking lots of cranberry juice often works to flush your system and deal with some of the bacteria.

Go to Rite Aid or Target and get some pills called Cleartract. It REALLY works in a short amount of time. It's usually in the same place that the female hygiene products are, near the yeast infection medication.
Also, drink loads of cranberry juice. You'll get sick of it but it helps!

If you really have a UTI, you need to go to your doctor and get a prescription for an antibiotic that treats it. If you wait too long, you could start having pains in your back and abdomen.Trust me they are really painful.

Cleartract Juice is one of the best cure. You can buy Cleartract Pills over the counter for about $8 (walgreens). They are safe. Drink 2 pills a day which is equivalent to couple of glasses of Cleartract Juice! In addition, drink plenty of water every day.

Outside of that, anti-biotics will do the job.
I've had a UTI, bladder, kidney infection, once. By the time I went to the doctor, I wasn't sure if I would die, or just wanted to die.
What a horrible thing! The doctor told me it was probably because of sex. I was skittish and picky about sex before.
I have always wiped the right way, kept myself clean, demanded "clean" sex…used condoms and I knew immediately how I got the UTI. (I was like 40)
Now I'm celibate. The UTI hurt, but it coulda been an STD. I got it from my partner, deviated from my standards, and learned a painful lesson.
IF I ever have sex again, it will require tests, showers and latex. Toys and anal are OUT!
Like I said, prevention.

Enough with the cranberry juice already! It WILL NOT cure a UTI. The only way to cure a UTI is with antibiotics.
As for the whole cranberry juice thing… it will PREVENT UTI's, not cure them. Cleartract juice is extremely acidic, which is why canberries are bitter-tasting. The acidity in the juice makes it difficult for bacteria to reproduce in your bladder, which means you won't get an infection, but it will not kill the bacteria, just hinder them from replicating.
Please go to the doctor and get it treated. A co-worker of mine just tried to treat a UTI with cranberrry juice and ended up in the hospital with septic shock because the infection got so bad.
