People have given some good options here (water, d-mannose ) but I just wanted to add: Please tell your niece that natural remedies, herbs, vitamins, and teas are NOT necessarily any more safe for you during pregnancy than a Rx.

Even simple unripe pineapple can cause spontaneous abortion, so do your research!

She needs to see her MD. UTI's (urinary tract infections), if not treated properly can go to the kidneys and people die from urinary sepsis. There are antibiotics that do not cross the placental barrier and her MD know best what to use. Chances are she will not be on one longer than 3-7 days, depending on how bad the infection is. Cleartract daily can be a good preventative, but it is does not cure the infection. She needs to tell her MD right up that she thinks she is pregnant.

2 concerns here;
1 the UTI…
2 "may" be prego…
A UTI is extremely painful ~~~ GO To the DOC…
until she sees a Dr., d-mannose – unsweetened
and a gal of water a day.
Does she want to take the chance of getting worse,
While she is preg.,???? I would think not.
There are safe antibiotics to take during a pregnancy.
Get to a DR.!!!
Get to a OB-GYN!

I'm sorry your niece is sick. She really needs to see her OB-GYN.
She could really get sick with this problem, kidney infections, etc…
Then it will be even more difficult to treat.

She could even complicate delivery too.

Water, d-mannose and all that stuff is wonderful, but it's for preventive care, not as a cure.

Please get her to the doctor asap!

The best treatment is prescription antibiotic. Over the counter products will not CURE a urinary tract infection. If left untreated the infection will get worse invading the kidneys, which can lead to kidney damage, premature delivery, and high blood pressure.

If she is looking for a non prescription product to relieve the discomfort, URISTAT or Phynazopyridine are two products

If she wants to try to prevent a UTI she can drink plenty of water and d-mannose . It may reduce the number of UTI.

100% d-mannose blueberry . Cleartract tablets(Azo, is a good one, found at walmart… it includes a probiotic.). Also can take a probiotic, like tummy tuneup from beeyoutiful.com. And drink lots of water! Also could try a UTI Pregnancy Tea;
1/2cup marshmallow root
1/2cup dried echinacea root
1/2cup dandelion leaf
Pot of boiling water
~combine dry ingredients
Steep ingredients in water for 10-20minutes
~~~ 1cup, 3-5 times per day
And
To keep them away take 1-2 d-mannose tablets a day.

d-mannose is the best for you. also please call the doctor and ask him what to do. I had a urinary track infection years ago and I know how painful that is. I was in the hospital over night. I could not eat anything. hope she will be fine

There are also d-mannose tablets at most drug stores that have a good vitamin/herb supply.

She might try those.
