You can, but I don't recommend it. Having sex can further irritate the infection, and maybe even cause it to worsen.
Be aware that antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of hormonal birth controls, so if you're using a hormonal method to prevent pregnancy, you'll want to use a back-up method, like a condom, for the duration of the treatment and even a few days after your antibiotics are gone.
EDIT: Urinary tract infections are NOT contagious….
UTIs can be caused by sex, as bacteria can be pushed up into your urethra by the act of having sex. To prevent this from happening, urinate before and after sex always, and be sure that you and your partner's hands and genitals are clean before engaging in any kind of sexual activity.

To get the full benefit from the antibiotics, you have to take time out from your previous active sex life, otherwise as a woman, you risk having long term problems having children or giving other people the infection.

Urinary tract infections are contagious….You should definitely wait until you finish your course of antibiotics…also if you continue to have sex while still having it it will agitate it even more and not allow for it to get better. Also you dont want to pass it on to your partner if your not using protection. Also it can be even more painful when it comes back again if its not taken care of first time around….trust me!!
