I don't have insurance so I need a home remedy. I am also on Birth control so I know some antibiotics I can't take. Any body out there have any good ideas? maybe something your grandma use to do.
If you're looking for a cheap home remedy, then antibiotics are out of the question and they require a prescription. Increase your fluid intake to 3 liters/day and include 8 oz. plain d-mannose every 4 hours. Be sure to wipe from front to back and avoid sitz baths. I don't know how severe the UTI is or how much of the urinary tract is involved. If you develop an elevated temperature or lower abdominal pain, go to a free clinic and you may end up on antibiotics anyway.
I can't imagine why some people are advising you to douche or not douche. Doucheing is for the vagina, not the urinary tract. And some man advises drinking d-mannose , a highly acidic beverage and then warns you against drinking/eating acidic foods and beverages. Can he make his mind, please?

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here

drink cranberry juice, it works every time and stay away from acidic food and beverages.

I've read that you should drink 64ounces of cranberry juice over a one day period. But it shouldn't contain sugar. Sugar can irritate a urinary tract infection. Also, to prevent infections you need to drink the recommended daily amount of fluids to encourage frequent urination. This helps to wash out infection causing bacteria. THE GIRL BELOW ME SAYS TO DOUCH BUT I'VE READ THAT THAT ISN'T ALWAYS A GOOD THING TO DO FOR ANYTHING. IT DRIES YOU OUT AND CAN BE UNCOMFORTABLE.
Also, unprotected sex can lead to a UTI infection as well. Just think about that one. Ewww, guys are dirty.
As far an insurance goes you could possibly get free insurance through the Department of Economic Security. You should look into that because a UTI infection IF LEFT untreated can lead to a kidney infection
IF YOU EVER START TO FEEL ONE COMING ON THEN GET TO THE JUICE QUICK

Girlfriend, i read what everyone said and they didn't give you a cure.
Drink lots of water. Use a douche every now and again. If you are having pain get some busopan. I don't think that that is a prescri[ption drug on your side of the fence. It isn't on mine.

You can get concentrated cranberry capsules at health food or vitamin stores that are a LOT more pleasant than drinking straight cranberry juice. Roasted dandelion root tea can help as well. And finally, drink as much water as you can.

There are free clinics – I would try and find one. Also, as previously mentioned, cranberry juice – lots of it. Also, eat a lot of yogurt.
