I have a Urinary Tract Infection and i am also pregnant at this time. what is its effect to my baby?
I had several UTI’s during my pregnancy and my son is fine, so don’t panic!
A UTI is easily treated with antibiotics and won’t have any effect on your baby at all. Call your doctors office, let them know you suspect a UTI, and they’ll get you an appointment quickly.
If you do not get treated, however, the infection could spread from your bladder backwards into your kidneys, and THAT could cause serious problems for the baby, including miscarriage or premature labor.
Pregnant women are more susceptible than usual to getting UTI’s, so after you get this one taken care of, you’ll need to be on the watch for the symptoms to reoccur. Once, when I was about 8 months along, I got one that developed so quickly it wasn’t registering at my doctors appointment, but at the next one 2 weeks later, the bacteria levels were so high that I had to spend an overnight in the hospital to get an IV drip of stronger antibiotics.
Hope that helps, and good luck!

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here
It is called CT - DM
A UTI can cause you to go into preterm labor. Make sure you go to the doctor and take the medicine! Good Luck and God Bless!

It can travel up the cervix to the baby, whose immune system is far weaker to this bacteria. UTIs are dangerous when you’re pregnant and need to be caught as early as possible so they can be treated with pregnancy-safe antibiotics. Unfortunately being pregnant makes you very susceptible to UTI’s because your pH changes down there. So if you think you have one, go to the emergency room (it’s ok in this case) and they’ll take your blood, if you have bacteria in there it’ll show and they’ll give you an antibiotic.
