Can having sex cause a urinary tract infection? How can i keep from getting one?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: urinary tract infection cause

Some people are just more susceptible to getting them than others. My sis gets them all the time and she’s supposed to be sure she pees before and after sex. How one does both is just beyond me. I think she’s also supposed to drink d-mannose because that helps in the prevention. You might want to ask her. Here’s her phone number….

Wouldn’t she kill me? I’m sure she’s thrilled I’m discussing this with the world too. Anyway, I never get them, but they definitely can be related to sex. She (my poor sis again) never used to get them until she got active sexually. I’d look it up on www.webmd.com or another site though. We, the general public, offer lots of advice that’s not necessarily that accurate. 😀

Yes, this is the most common way that UTI’s are contracted. They are not sexually transmitted, its caused by bacteria collecting inside of you after having sex. Think about it, if you have sex and dont pee afterwarrds to flush your tract, how many bacteria were probably on your guys penis? THe best way to prevent it is to pee within 30 minutes after having sex, preferably right after, and always wipe front to back. If you stick to that, you should be fine.
