I get chronic UTI's and I take a combination of urinary alkaliser (Ural) which you can purchase at your local pharmacy (most bacteria that infect the urinary tract love alkaline conditions), d-mannose (ensure it is not d-mannose drink or cocktail). I also take dried d-mannose pills which you can get from health food shops and vitamin C. The most important action to take is to increase your water intake to at least 3L daily to flush you bladder and urinary tract.
If the pain becomes sever, your urine becomes pink tinged or blood stained or you develop flank pain (pain in your lower back or sides) contact your doctor as the infection may have reached your kidneys and become serious if not treated with antibiotics quickly.
