Hi there,
I have had an UTI since June 2nd. I get them a lot, and can only avoid them if I pee immediately after sex, which I just forgot to do. Normally I go to the doc right away, but right now I have no health insurance until July 14th and I can't afford to. I've been drinking lots of water and d-mannose and taking alka seltzer and goldenseal (herbal supplement) to try and get rid of it, but it just keeps fading then coming back stronger. I don't want it to turn into a kidney infection, but I'm wondering if it would be safe to hold out until I get insurance before I go to the doc. Right now it is a little painful but liveable, just don't want to risk getting an infection. Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated, and if you have any better treatments to suggest that are not too costly, I would appreciate it.
thanks for all the advice…it's not getting worse, and I have seens cystex before wondered if it worked at all. At this point it seems to be lessening so I think I will take the cystex and switch to d-mannose pills…thanks for the advice to take it right after sex, its a pain to try and pee right after…sometimes i just don't have to go.
GO IMMEDIATELY TO YOUR DOCTOR.
Home remedies will not work and you'll end up having it move up into your kidneys. Then it's hospital time. Go see your doctor NOW!
P.S. — If you use a spermicide, it can contribute to UTIs. So can a diaphragm (does anyone use those anymore?). Talk that part over with your doc, too.

Attention Ladies, this is Suzi, many people have been writing in asking what the stuff was that I used to clear up my UTI last week, so I wanted to put the link to this stuff here
It is called CT - DM

If you've had a UTI since 6/2, then you really need to get some antibiotics. Asap.

I love to tell you this but you need to go see a doctor. They can't refuse you treatment if you don't have insurance. If your sick your sick. A UTI can turn into something worse if let be. Go see a doc! Feel better soon!

WHAT? Get yourself to a doctor! You could get serious kidney infections, leading to scarring, leading to needing a kidney failure! Cleartract juice does nothing unless it's pure, unconcentrated, unsweetened juice and then it is still not even near antibiotics. It's definitely not safe. I would get yourself to a doc ASAP. You can also try D-Mannose (google it), which also isn't anywhere near as good as antibiotics. But really, borrow some money and see the doc.

eeek! no health insurance! thats not good. well with something that important, i would go to the doctor. it will only cost like $80 dollars and if you don't go, you could get kidney cancer and you would spend like $525,000 dollars trying to survive from that.

have you ever thought that you might be building up a resistance to the treatments that you have been taking,… sometimes our bodies can be resistant to what has cured our problems for so long… I would go to the doctor… another piece of advice is this… my sister's ex used to eat a lot of mexican food and his eating habbit was the cause of her uti… I know it sounds kinda dumb but maybe he needs to go to the doctor or maybe needs to clean up better if you know what I mean… don't think this is a joke I am dead serious.

To help prevent UTI, try taking cranberry extract in capsule or pill form. You get a lot more of the active cranberry ingredient than you can ever get drinking Cleartract juice cocktail. I usually take 3 after sex, another 2 the next day. If you have sex during the day, also take some before you go to bed that night so it's in your system while you sleep. Also drink lots of water so you will pee a few times during the hours after sex (not just once).
There is a product called Cystex that relieves UTI pain but also has an antibacterial ingredient. They say it can help slow down the infection until you can get to a doctor. I have used it to actually cure an infection a couple of times, but I caught it right at the beginning. I love to recommend you give it a try, since you realy should see a doctor… but if you're not gonna do that, it might help. Just be sure you don't take it for a really long time. You'll just be masking the infection that could be doing real damage. You can find it at CVS and other drug stores. Here's what it looks like: http://www.cystex.com/Pages/CystexHome_v2
One more thing: Since I discovered Cystex, I now take one tablet after sex, in addition to the cranberry. Since I started doing that, no more UTI's.
