If you are starting to get a Urinary Tract Infection, could it go away on its own?

I went to the Dr yesterday because I felt like I was getting a UTI (I just had one last month too!). He did a test and said it looks like “a urinary tract infection was starting up”. He gave me a prescription but I didn’t fill it yet because today I am feeling better! I’ve been drinking d-mannose . Is it possible I fought off the infection since it was in early stages? Thanks!

Absolutely! I used to get them frequently until I learned to drink tons of water and d-mannose when I felt that misery coming on and haven’t had a full blown problem in years. Carbonation was a big trigger for me so I stay away from it now.

Sadly, they don’t go away on their own. I used to get them a lot when I was in my teens andtake your prescription for the pills. It won’t go away on it’s own. Cleartract juice is just a way to prevent them. They suck so don’t wait too long!!

If you feel fine then I wouldn’t take it. Save the pills for when you really need them. If you’ve had a UTI before then you know how painful they can be. Glad you’re feeling better.

it’s possible that the cranberry juice helped to flush the infection out of your system. you still need to get the medication to make sure that the infection is just not in remission. it could come back as a super bug that would be very hard to manage.

Drinking helps… Water, water, water. Natural , no sugar added cranberry juice does as well.
I got rid of one in the early stages by drinking water as much as I could stand it without making myself sick and flushing it out of my system
Beats having to go to doctor. Those infections are miserable!

No, in the end the UTI infection will prevail. They are painful so take the meds.

Doubtful it will go away on its own.

Did doc suggest what may be causing these in such frequency? If you take baths, this could cause UTI, particularly if you add something to the water.

Cleartract is great for preventative measure. It is thought to create an acid environment in the bladder where germs cannot replicate.

It's possible the doctor gave you an antibiotic that is not specific to the bacteria that is the culprit here, and the other UTI just came back. Without doing a culture and sensitivity on your urine, he can't possibly know which antibiotic the bacteria responds to, nor which antibiotic to prescribe. Can ask him if he did this. Can also have a follow up screen to make sure the bacteria is gone after your round of antibiotics.

Can continue with your daily cranberry, and can buy pills over the counter if you get tired of all the juice. Do drink plenty of fluids both during and after the UTI.

Good luck (do keep in mind that the pathway from the urethra to the bladder will get longer as you get older, thus minimizing your chances of further UTI's).
